far & free in the community: West Coast Women's Show

far & free participated in its first pop up market in December 2021 and we loved the supportive community vibe so much that we joined more local markets as the months went on. I mean... who doesn’t like to discover amazing local brands and have cheerful conversations with vendors and shoppers alike?! One of our favourite markets to date has been the West Coast Women’s Show for its fun shopping and entertainment experiences, giving us the opportunity to create a mini far & free boutique, and seeing which sunglasses people were most drawn to.

The West Coast Women’s Show is Western Canada’s largest women’s event. Located at the Tradex in Abbotsford, the show invited thousands of excited people through its doors over 3 days to discover the artisans, charities, and fashion brands that came from across BC to participate. Local food trucks, wineries, and breweries kept the vendors caffeinated and the shoppers fed and happy as they raised their glasses to country music headliners, Aaron Pritchett and Aaron Goodvin.

One great thing about this show is that far & free had the perfect space to create a boutique store experience. We knew that the market would be buzzing with excited shoppers, and it was important for us to create a calm and comfortable space for people to walk into and try on the sunglasses. Our little west coast inspired store was a hit from the warm lighting and fresh greenery, to the modern minimalist display that made the experience of discovering far & free sunwear easy and enjoyable. It took a lot of time and effort to pull our little store together and I could not have done it without the amazing support of my family. Special shoutout to far & free collective members Alexandra, for your help on Friday and Saturday, and Cory who took over the shop so I could run and grab a coffee on Sunday!
