Business Babes Collective - Dream Big Conference
Business Babes Collective started in Vancouver in 2015 and has since grown into a global community for women in business. Founder, Danielle Wiebe offers coaching to entrepreneurs and helps them create connections with other women-owned businesses through workshops, programs, and most recently at the Dream Big Conference held on March 10th.
I first participated in a Business Babes event in December 2022 as a vendor, where I met a welcoming community of women from those who were just starting their companies to ones who had been operating for years. When the opportunity to join the Dream Big Conference as a vendor came up, I jumped at the chance! This conference meant I could learn from the entrepreneurial journeys of different women in all facets of business development, while growing far & free brand awareness locally.
The event was engaging and fun, and filled with networking, shopping local brands, and learning from inspiring speakers. I enjoyed sharing about my history in eyewear design and far & free's start-up story with many wonderful women, and in-turn hearing about their brand journeys. The far & free sunglass collection was well-received, and I got some great feedback on the designs that I will be applying to future collections. As the day progressed, I heard about the struggles, learnings, and triumphs of the guest speakers, and got some great advice, tips, and tricks from the panel discussions.
Here are 5 highlights that I’d like to share with any entrepreneurs in our far & free collective community:
- Don’t give up! It can sometimes take up to 7 touchpoints to make the desired connection.
- Clarity is kindness. Be clear on what you are asking for from your team. Provide details and explain what success looks like so everyone is working towards the same goal and have the necessary tools for the job.
- There are advantages to being a young brand. Local social media Influencers often want what is new and they want to be the first among their peers to talk about it. Take a chance and send them a DM about your brand.
- Don’t stand in your own way. What rules are you creating for yourself that are unnecessary and delaying the start of your next task or business project?
- Plan and schedule your social media content. Dedicate one day a week or once a month to content creation and scheduling so you can open up more time for other areas of business growth.
